Coming Wednesday 28 March at 8pm we will show the film "Hugo" (2011), directed and co-produced by Martin Scorsese and starring Ben Kingsley, Jude Law, Christopher Lee, Sacha Baron Cohen and Asa Butterfield. This American adventure drama film is based on Brian Selznick's bestselling children's novel "The Invention of Hugo Cabret". Storyline: Hugo is a 12 year old boy living within the walls of a train station in 1931 in Paris. He learned to fix the station clocks from his father and his uncle. After his father died, a mechanical man, who is supposed to write with a pen, is the only thing that connects him with his father. Convinced the mechanical man contains a message from his father, Hugo tries to fix it. He steals parts to repair the mechanical man, but is caught by a store owner Georges Melies (a real existing French pioneer film maker). He becomes friends with Georges Melies and his daughter and discovers they have a connection with his father. Hugo received five Oscars at the Academy Awards a month ago, out of its 11 nominations. The film got almost universal critical acclaim and has appeared on many critics' top ten lists for best films of 2011. ![]() review of this film: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0970179/ trailer of this movie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CE1bzNrdz8s
