This Wednesday 4 April movie called "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy"
Cafe Amsterdam English - Cultural Programme

Coming Wednesday 4 April at 8pm we will have the British film "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" (2011) in Cafe Amsterdam. This is a recent (brought in circulation December last year) espionage and thriller film directed by Swedish Tomas Alfredson and starring Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Tom Hardy and John Hurt. The film is based on the bestselling novel with the same name by John le Carre.

The film is set at the height of the Cold War years at the beginning of the seventies. George Smiley, a disgraced British spy, is rehired in secret by his government, which fears that the British Secret Intelligence Service, has been compromised by a double agent working for the Soviets.

"Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" has received favourable reviews, got lots of film awards and three Oscar nominations and was in England a big box-office success. Although the film has action as well, this isn't a James Bond spy movie, but with a dense puzzle of anxiety, paranoia and espionage it's a fascinating thriller.
